CHEERS - Beer Bottle Card

One of the new stamp sets coming in the new Catalogue is all about STARS!!! SO I thought I could make a card with it and then saw my hubby's (empty) beer bottle and I had a 'light bulb' moment - result was this card. I used the oval framelits, Happy Hour stamp set (white embossed on Basic Black) and for the 'condensation' I used Crystal Effects.

Hubby liked his card but suggested that a certain beer company better not see it! lol I reckon they should be flattered!!!

one design three more cards

here are three more cards using that same design that I have for the last wee while - it's just such a COOL card map!!! This one is in Wisteria Wonder with a touch of Perfect Plum. This time I rose the punched items and stamped directly on to the PP card.

This one is Early Espresso and Very Vanilla....

And finally a Real Red with a touch of Pool Party for a masculine touch. NOW this is ALL the cards I made with this card map! hee hee. Next week I will start sharing projects I've made with products from our NEW catalogue which goes live on July 2!

Mad Hatters Tea Party

A friend (and a girl from my Stampin' Up! team) had her 40th birthday over the weekend and it was a Mad Hatter Tea Party theme. They put on an amazing spread of food all themed, and so I HAD to do a themed card. I decided to focus just on the "tea" part. This Designer Series Paper (DSP) is called "Tea for Two" and was perfect for the card! I went with a stepper card cause it uses more of the DSP than a standard card.

I used Calypso Coral cards stock and BUT I used one of the new in-colours from the upcoming catalogue for the stamping - Crisp Cantaloupe. I stamped directly on the DSP with Morning Cup and Tea Shoppe stamps - both these stamp sets and the DSP are retiring NEXT WEEK!! I also used items from the Artisan embellishment kit from the Seasonal Catalogue. That catalogue is also retiring next week when the Annual Catalogue retires.

wedding wheels and hearts

I have been playing with a cool card map I saw on Pinterest HERE. This time I used hearts instead of circles and put the panel in the middle not to the right. The colours are Sahara Sand, Basic Grey (car) and Real Red. I used a bit of Red Glimmer Paper. The stamp set is Road to Happiness. I'm really pleased how this one turned out - pity I don't have a wedding in the near future to give it to someone! lol

pretties in pink

here are two more cards using the same card map as yesterday. This one is in Blushing Bride which is one of the 'past' colours that is coming back in the new catalogue starting 2nd July. I made this for a friend Linda, who's birthday was in the weekend.

this one is for Narelle's daughter Caitlin who's 7th birthday is today. Same card map just different stamps (Create a Cupcake), embellishment and ribbon. I actually made 5 more in the style today - but changed it up a bit. I'm teaching this technique tomorrow at my class :)

monochromatic bliss

This sweet card I made for a good friend of mine for her birthday. Her birthday is the same day as my husband so I never get to spend time with her on her actual day but I was able to catch up with her a few days later last week. Purple is her FAVOURITE colour so I knew I had to make a card the same colour! I wanted a clean card so I trolled my Pinterest boards and THIS is what I found - click HERE to see it. It's such a clever design and I really enjoyed making it - so much so I've made 3 of them so far! lol I will show the others over the next few days. :)

OH HELLO!

I LOVE this technique that Linda Higgin's showed us at Stampin' Up! South Pacific Convention last month. Such a simple idea - heat embossing on vellum but I had never tried it. This card I designed uses Soft Suede and Crumb Cake inks with Very Vanilla card stock. I used Mixed Bunch stamp on the vellum and Everything Eleanor for the flourish underneath along with the Oh, Hello set for the sentiment. I love mixing up the stamps sets! hee hee

Again I stamped versamark on the vellum and used white embossing powder. The lowest flower is stamped on a extra piece of vellum and I punched it out. I also did wee butterflies as you can see in the below photo - I did these but stamping in Soft Suede and quickly covered with clear embossing powder and then heat set it. This is what you can do to get ANY colour embossed. It doesn't always give you the WOW that actual coloured embossing powder but for something small like the butterflies it works ok. I used the Papillon Potpourri stamp set for the butterflies.

If you would like to gather a few friends to learn how to make this (or any card you see on here) email me TODAY - julia.leece@vodafone.co.nz

Wisteria Wonder-ful!

Here is another card using the heat embossed technique on vellum. This time I used the Stampin' Up! Labels Framelits that match the Apothecary Art stamp set. I coloured the wreath using a sponge dauber with some red on the flowers and green on the rest.
When making a card like this you just place a folded card under your framelit with the folded part "inside" the top of the die. You also need to trim the bottom of the back piece to a flat end so the card will sit like the photo. Otherwise it rocks to one side as you can balance it on the point, but by trimming the back bit to remove the point you can leave the front looking awesome!

Have a great Monday - today I am playing in my craftroom most of the day - need to go to the supermarket at some stage - apparently the family requires food -go figure??? hee hee

"the best things in life aren't things"

One of the cool things about going to Stampin' Up! conventions is the demo presentations! One that I thoroughly enjoyed was Linda Higgins' presentation on using vellum with heat embossing. I've used vellum a lot and of cause LOVE heat embossing but never put the two together with a bit of sponging. This is the first of a few project's I've made using these two mediums.

I used Pool Party embossing party with matching sponging and then stamping in Night of Navy. The 'feel' of the card can change by using different colours underneath - even the difference between Whisper White or Very Vanilla is amazing.

Come back over the next few days to see the variety of vellum cards I have.

the bloke's shed!

For the Stampin' Up!'s convention I did a 'window' card for my 'swaps' as mention HERE in a past post. When I taught the card in class I made a masculine version - THE SHED! I used the Tool Shed background stamp that is about to retire. It was fun to make it and I may use it for my hubby's birthday this weekend as he would love a SHED just for him - instead he has a bit in the garage - unlike me who's got a whole room for my crafting! lol

One of the highlights (there were many!) of convention was this amazing gift bag a fellow demo gave me. Shona Edmonds gave me it just before convention started and I LOVE it - HERE is Shona's blog. She made it using MDS- My Digital Studio. I haven't had much of a play with MDS but I am in awe of her ability with it!!

Inside the organza bag was a great 'flip' book which had space for notes from each of the events of the convention. There was a DVD case for 'keepsakes' and the cutest survival kit - complete with chocolates and pain killers! lol THANK YOU SO MUCH Shona for my lovely gift!!! xxx
