my new craft room

I have finally shifted and got my craft room sorted. It took a few days but I am pleased with the result. I am so wanting to start crafting again - it's been over two weeks since I have been able to which in the life of a crafter is a LIFE TIME!! lol

The good thing about this is that I can teach in the room which means I don't have to move things into the kitchen every time! Also if it's messy and I am too tired to clean up I can just shut the door and it doesn't bother my TIDY addict of a husband! hee hee

these rails that I have my punches hanging from I got from Ikea last year in Sydney - I am not sure if you can get similar in New Zealand as I went looking for more and couldn't find any. They are only 1" high which is good for holding the punches. For the little punches I used a clear spice rack which works brilliantly!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAREN!!!

today is my SIL and closest friends birthday. It is a VERY special one - a BIG 'O' birthday (but I am too nice to say exactly how many!! lol) and to celebrate they are going on a romantic cruise around the Greek Isles - how cool is that! so I made her card with that in mind.

These are her favourite colours - she is a blue girl, and I loved using that cool stamp set - I am hoping that it will be in the next new catty!!!

I used the HUGE medallion stamp and lots of Champagne shimmer paint!.

Little bits like the crimping and piercing is fun to add detail and texture to a card.

She was pleased with it so that's all I ask for!!

This weeks magazine features ME!!! hehe I got to take the photos and write the instructions. It's a VERY easy and fun project - I used the Stampin' Up! Big Shot die Flower Folds to cut the felt but you could hand cut any shape to make it work - although the die makes cutting lots so EASY!!!

This is a project that myself and a few other demonstrators did for the girls (and one guy) made for the Stampin' Up! Canterbury Regional Training early this year following their devastating earthquakes. It was a small gift we made for them to help brighten their day. The whole event was a free and fun day for them to have a break away from their rocky lives for a day. And how scary that the week this project makes the magazine Canterbury is again being rocked by large quakes!! My thoughts continue to be with me fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrators and their family's at this time. Actually to ALL people in the area we are sending cyber HUGS to you all!!

boxes boxes boxes!!!

This is what my craft room looks like!! We are all set to shift next Monday (20th) so I had to pack up my craft room. It actually didn't take long to do as a lot of my things are in cartons etc. The red tap on everything is for the shifters to know that it all goes into my craft room. We have rooms coloured co-ordinated hee hee!

So there won't be many projects to show you over the next 10 days or so. I have some saved up to post so it won't be a complete drought!

FLIP FLOP SWINGING ARROWS!!!

here is a 'younger' version of the swing flip flop card. I love the bold DSP with it's arrows going everywhere! This is the front of the card and ..........

this is the inside. The stamp is from the awesome "WORD PLAY" stamp set and I coloured the words in different colours using the Stampin' Up! marker pens. The small zigzaggy bits on the white centre card in Old Olive & Real Red are the bits that you discard when you use the latest boarder punch - the one with the little hearts! hehe No I can't remember the name of it!! LOL

I have made a few of these cards so I have one more to show but I will wait till after my class at Manurewa tonight as they are making it (so Linda you will have to wait for tonight! hehe)

Elegant Eggplant Always Is Elegant!!

and I think this card shows it at it's best! This is one of the projects that I am teaching tomorrow at my Manurewa class. It is a scallop circle easel card which are quite the rage at the mo. I love Narelle's on here and Melissa's one here. Helen Williams has been doing some too here.

The DSP was just a Whisper White & Basic Grey Neutrals DSP pack that I stamped one of the images from Elements Of Style in Elegant Eggplant. A bit of sponging around most edges help make it have depth. To finish it off I sponged a very little bit of Champaign Shimmer paint both on the rose and on the scallop edges. I am really pleased how this one turned out!

Can't wait to see how the ten ladies do with their ones tomorrow!

hubby's birthday

tomorrow is my husbands birthday (better not announce how many years! hehe) and he is a classic car fan. We own a lovely silver '67 Notchback Mustang that he restored from scratch so I knew I just HAD to use the cool 'For a Classic' stamp set. I stamped the checker strip across the card and then stamped the 3 cars on scrap card, painted silver shimmer paint directly onto the cars (to resemble our car) and then cut them out and popped them up on dimensionals.

To create the background I stamped Versamark onto the Basic Black card and embossed the images with white embossing powder and heat set it. The checker strip on the left side is just white little squares placed on the black card to look like the racing flag. A few embellishments, some layering with Real Red and it was done.

My daughter cooked a cute cake made into a log and I found this cool knife to cut it with - it is made for cutting cakes! awesome eh! hehe We have a history of doing pressies and cake the night before the birthday when the birthday is on a weekday. Means you don't have to wait ALL day to get your 'goodies' as hubby goes to work even before the sparrows are awake!

A coffee wallet!

This was the VERY cool project that Dee taught last week on our all day craft day over on Crafters Anonymous. It is a wallet that opens up to show pockets that fit coffee, tea, hot chocolate or anything in!

I used Very Vanilla as a card base and Early Espresso for the highlights. I wheeled Crumb Cake onto the base with the Very Vintage wheel and 'Tea-reffic' stamp set on the pockets. The awesome stamp from 'Got Treats' for the front.

I have been busy as packing away - when will it end????? lol I know my craft room will be packed away next weekend - so I will be spasmodic in my postings over the next two - three weeks.

a cuppa anyone???

Debi come up with this neat easel card for out Biggest Morning Tea last weekend. Isn't it fun!!

I used Baja Breeze and Whisper White for the card and a bit of Crumb Cake for the tea bag tag.

The Very Vintage wheel was perfect for creating the cup and lots of sponging to make it look round.

There is one more project to show then I have out 12 days of Mid Winter swap that I have been doing over on Crafters Anonymous. See you tomorrow.

I LOVE crack glass!!

here is another project from the weekend - Jane did the 'technique' class and crack glass was the technique of the day. It is such a fun thing to do. The layering of the embossing powder and then popping it in the freezer and finally bending it so the surface breaks up - just like popping the bubbles in bubble wrap - truly delightful!! Yes I know I am weird but you don't often get a chance to 'break' things legitimately do you?? hehe

I loved getting out the good ol' faithful Priceless stamp set which I stamped the DSP Blueberry Crisp with.

here is a close up of the surface of the cracked glass. I did you a set of Spellbinders to create the frame. Tea'riffic was where the tea pot came from.

quilling - a first for me!

here is the card that was my entry for the colour challenge on our all day cyber craft day on Sunday. The colours were Whisper White, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point which are the colours of the 'Australian Biggest Morning Tea' campaign. Not colours I would normally use together but it is growing on me, esp. after seeing all the amazing projects the ladies made with them.

This is my first ever time using quilling. I bought a little quilling kit from a $2 shop and was desperate to try it. I hope to try some more soon!!

Happy 1st June - the first day of winter here in New Zealand but I think a card like this helps to bring the warmth and sunshine back in our house!
