what we made at class this week
diamond fold cards where our crafting target this week - we made half ones and full ones.
These are my attempts. The half ones would make great Christmas place names.
next week are are making flower embellishments which could be used on cards, scrap pages and any other paper craft. Plus I will show you how to make a bow out of paper.

a bunch of flowers that never die!
This small bunch of flowers I made using papers from Stampin' Up!'s new spring mini catalogue.
They are made using punches (and some Spellbinders hehe - although you can get the same effect using the corner punch without the 'skirt' on it). The curly paper bits are just strips wrapped around a skewer and then releasing them from the skewer - so easy yet really effective. Would look lovely on a card or scrap page.
We are making some of these next week (24th Aug) at classes if you are interested.

stuff I made today
This card is made using Whisper White, Sahara Sand & Riding Hood Red. I have used the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set and the Pocket Silhouettes (hope thats spelt right hehe). I also used the RHRed ribbon, the SU crimper (way cool tool!) and the eyelet boarder punch.
I actually made the card thats on the cover of the Stampin' Up! Idea & Catalogue Book - which is also using this set. Its neat to be able to make great cards just like in the books! lol I also made what might be my SU regional swap for training next month - so can't show you that one yet hehe!
This is our cat Jerry. I saw this squash book on Splitcoast Stamper website and just HAD to make one!. Its all Kiwi Kiss, Close to Cocoa & Choc Chip.
This week at classes we are making Diamond Folded cards - and using one version for place names at a christmas table! Then the next week we are making embellishments from paper - from flowers to ribbons!
Thanks for looking.

non traditional colours
One thing I enjoy at Christmas is using different colours from traditional green and red. Two years ago we even had black theme for our tree and table. Highlighted with silver and white looked really cool.
Today at class we made pop up cards and some of us used different non traditional colours. I hope some of the ladies will take pics and send them to me so I can show you how well they looked!
In the meantime you will have to put up with my Raspberry Tart Christmas card hehe using Cameo Coral - which many of you know I have a love/hate relationship with. But its good to push yourself at times too, you will always be pleasantly surprised with the results.

man this year is going so quickly!
If you don't stop to take note of each day it just races away!
I didn't realise its been over a week since I last posted. I went down to Tauranga for a afternoon and evening Stampin' Up! event at a friends place. We had lots of fun and I met some lovely new people.
This week my classes made acetate boxes. Its quiet funny as I have been planing these for a while and last week I went to my uplines (Jacque) class cause it was titled 'everything chocolate' so I just HAD to go hehe. And we made acetate boxes there too. I like to think that great minds must think alike! lol
DON'T FORGET that this Sunday @ 2.30pm I am having a launch party for the new Stampin' Up! Spring mini catalogue. There will be goodie bags for all, if you bring someone with you who hasn't had a SU party/workshop there's another goodie for you. Also all bookings made on the day go into the draw for any SU punch of your choice. I will be demostrating some of the great products in the mini catalogue plus you can make a lovely card to take home to using a lovely stamp set called Forest Friends. Contact me ASAP to reserve your spot julia.leece@slingshot.co.nz
