for a junior Dr Who fan!

A few months ago a fellow Stampin' Up! demo showed me some cards she got from a card swap using stamps from this years Sale-a-bration. There was one card that featured the 'tardis' flying thru space using the 'Space' wheel as a background. So this is pretty much a complete case of that card but I can't find who did the swap so I can give due credit!
To make the 'flame' I used the Build a Blossom stamp set and punch. I made this first before I made yesterdays card for my son but decided it was probably better for a younger 'Whovian'! lol
SO if the swap was yours PLEASE let me know so I can give the credit it's due - I didn't even know we had that wheel until I saw the swap! lol Thanks for sharing!

Happy 18th Birthday son xx

I made this for my own son who turned 18 TODAY! wow where did the time go! He's my eldest and only son. I did use the Sale-a-bration stamp set that isn't now available but as a Dr Who fan I will be keeping this one. I hand drew the background and pewter embossed them. I then dry embossed it with the chevron embossing folder to help the feel of the card - if you're into Dr Who, esp the earlier stuff you will appreciate that. I cut two 18's so it looks a bit 3D! You can see below the 'Tardis' is shaped - I also covered it in clear embossing to give it a shiny finish. Son was happy with it and that is all that matters!

Black and White cake????

I must admit I LOVE black and white as a colour combo - although my kids would probably argue that black and white aren't actual colours!!! I have had this hostess set "A Cherry on Top" for ages and just never got around to use it so as I have a HEAP of birthdays over the next few days I pulled it out. I stamped the lid of the cake stand with black Stazon on acetate (window sheets) and it's mounted away from the cake. The cake is stamped on to white card and cut to shape using some patterned stamps - Netting & Summer Silhouettes. I stamped the cake stand with versamark and heat set it with black embossing powder so it gave a nice crisp and shiny look, I did that too for the sentiment. The background is from the Neutrals Paper Stack.

cutlery- bring on the cake!!!!

Nothing is nicer than eating lovely fresh homemade cake on posh plates with the finest cutlery!! I have wanted to use this set for SO long and finally got to use it today. I haven't had a chance to do much paper crafting this week but had a blitz today and yesterday!

I stamped the cutlery stamp 'Silver Setting' (above -127391 $20.95) with Versamark on to Brushed Silver card and then heat embossed it with pewter embossing powder. Then 'carefully' cut around each piece and guessing at what shape the bit under the 'label' part of the stamp. I then tied a bow to cross over that 'gap'.

To make the background I brayered black ink on to the Lacy Brocade embossing folder and then put it thru the Big Shot. Gives a different look and means you can make your own 'background paper'! Now where is that cake?????????

key tags!!!!

aren't these FAB!! I got the idea from Pinterest and it directed me to THIS website where the tutorial is. I used the More Amore fabric from the Seasonal Catty (the one with the big 25 on the front!). You could make these as key rings but I think I will take these to Brisbane South Pacific Stampin' Up! convention next month to personalise my convention bag. Can you imagine 400+ people all with the same bag - you NEED to personalise it so you know which is YOURS! lol
I'm SO looking forward to it - there is still time if you would love to come too - you don't have to be a demo to go but it is cheaper if you are AND we have such a great joining price at mo - you'd be silly not too. For just $189NZ you get over $350 worth of products of YOUR choice!!!! email me NOW julia.leece@vodafone.co.nz

bring on the Pacific Islands!

A bit of the Pacific Islands in autumn! Here is the last of the three versions of this type of card. I decided that the lattice die looked similar to the tapa cloths that the islands are well known for so I use the same colours that are on the tapa cloths. I used the petal punch to make the flower.

Retro thanks

Here is another version of my 'stained glass window' card, this time in Whisper White, Lucky Limeade and So Saffron. I think it gives a very retro look to it. We made these cards yesterday at my at home class and they all used different colours and it was a lovely display of creativeness. Come back tomorrow for another very different version!

stained glass window card

This is the card we're making today at class. It's a fun and easy card and there are LOTS of variations you can do. I have two more samples to show over the next few days. It's made using the lattice die which I have had for about 6 months without using it!!! lol All the products used are Stampin' Up! - will share more info on future posts. Below is the inside view of it.

simply easy

now this must be one of the EASIEST cards I've ever made! It's just DSP, a tag and ribbon!! I did stamp on the tag too. Sometimes less is more and this is a perfect example of it! The colours are Real Red, Island Indigo and Whisper White.
Tomorrow I will show you the cool card I've designed that I'm teaching tomorrow at my class. Have a great day!!

a twirly-whirly birthday!

this is another very simple card using the Sent with Love stamp set and paper. The sentiment is from Wishes Your Way which I find is a FAB stamp set for not only the Pinwheel die but with all cards. It has the following sentiments too: 'thank you', 'happy birthday', 'best wishes', 'you are headed in the right direction', 'blowing wishes your way' and the 'wishing you a twirly-whirly birthday' - all for only $37.95 for wood mount or $29.95 for clear mount.
The colours I've used are Pool Party, Real Red and Whisper White. Honestly the hardest part of this card was the bit of cutting around the stamp, which was easy!

Envelope card

Here is another card I made using the Sent with Love DSP and matching stamp set. The colours are Calypso Coral and Pool Party - two colours that you wouldn't normally put together -well I wouldn't but it is quite striking! I thought that this sentiment from Victor Borge was perfect for this card that looks like an envelope. That's from the 'Feel Goods' stamp set -from the current Seasonal Catalogue.
I have two more cards to share that I made yesterday :) see you soon!

AIR FORCE scrap page

YAYYYYYY I finally got into my craft room today! and I made this scrap page using the new "Sent with Love" DSP. It was the PERFECT paper for this photo as both the DSP and the photo are very retro. I've added a picture of the DSP below so you can see all the papers. This is the one that is on special at the mo - scroll down a bit for the details.

the photo itself is if my husband, the youngest, and his brothers with their mum on an aircraft carrier ship back in the 1960's. I used the matching Sent with Love stamp set and also the Up Up Away stamp set for the 'the sky's the limit' stamp.

I really enjoyed to finally ink up some stamps and cut some paper! lol I made 3 cards from the same DSP but you will have to wait for those to be shown - gotta spread these out! hehe

Mustache and Top Hats!

Today is my greater team training held once a month at my upline Jacque's house. I'm really annoyed I can't go as I have a bad chest cold and probably not nice to share with everyone else! But I did manage to get my swaps done which was a masculine theme. I know many people struggle with making cards for guys - me including - so I can't wait to see everyone samples!
I decided to use a 'Christmas' stamp set (as you do in April! lol) as I got this set Styln' Snowfolk because of these stamps - esp. the mustache stamp. It did take a bit of Stampin'-Ma-Giging (it is a word - honest! lol) to get all six parts in the right place. The sentiment is from Happy Hour and I used the stripes Big Shot Embossing Folder. To make the stripes go down the card like that I had to emboss the Pacific Point twice, as the folder is designed to have the stripes go from the shortest end not the wide width like on this card. The stripes embossing folder is by far the easiest one to do this with.
The colours are Basic Black, Whisper White AND Pacific Point - which is a colour I don't use often. You could make this in ANY colour and I did think about making different colours but with being sick all week I couldn't stretch my brain enough to do this hee hee.
When I bagged up the swaps yesterday I noticed some of my layers in them were crooked, oh well that's what happens when your unwell! lol Have a great weekend :)

Wedding Wishes

This weekend one of the ladies in my team is getting married. She is a very creative lady and I wanted to create a elegant and eye catching card. I love using ribbon on cards and wedding cards are a great place to go all out!! I stared by cutting out the shape of the 'bride' out of scrap card and then wrapping it in our Cotton Ribbon (127844 $NZ16.95) which I then stamped over with En Francis stamp which is the French script stamp. I then added ribbon from the lovely Artisan Embellishment kit (129328 $NZ19.95) from the current Seasonal Catalogue to finish off the dress. To create the groom I just used strips of the Two-Toned Ribbon in Basic Grey/Basic Black (129295 $NZ14.50). The button hole is a flower also from the Artisan Embellishment kit and I added the sentiment. I used the Big Shot to create the embossing and matched the embossing on the envelope which I had to make to allow the room the card needed to ensure the rose etc wasn't squashed!
Inside the card I followed on the 'bride' silhouette on to the liner, stamping as per the face of the card with En Francis. The bride and groom have received the card so I'm happy to share it.

Congratulations Barbara and Craig and all the best for this weekend's nuptials!
