FATHER & SON

this is the second scrapbooking page I made the other day. I was looking at photos and had these two photos in my hand and couldn't believe how similar my husband and my son looked at the same age of 4. My son has always been compared to my side of the family cause he looks so simular to my brothers as a toddler and even now but these photos shows how similar he is to his father! Everything on this page is Stampin' Up! with the main colours being Midnight Muse, Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White. 

ROCK CHIC scrapbook page

I had a lovely day yesterday crafting with some friends, I decided it was time to do some scrapbooking. This is my daughter when she was still at primary school - year 6 I think - and she was going to a punk party. It was fun making her long hair into a mohawk! lol This is all current Stampin' Up! products. I did have fun doing the wreath of stamps - I actually used a stamping gear which is a new toy I picked up at a craft show (not a product I sell). The colours don't show so well on the photos but they are Strawberry Slush, Elegant Eggplant and Real Red.

I love adding the little things to scrap pages like the little safety pins on the R and the I!

here are two more quick cards using the emboss resist technique on patterned paper (aka DSP). Sorry for the lack of posting - I've been flat tack doing bits away from my computer. Hopefully we will be back to normal routine soon :)

I found a card on Pinterest (oh I love that site!!) that I liked and decided I would 'case' it. The original card can be seen HERE by Robin Merriman. If you go thru to her blog there is even a video on how to make it. I LOVED the colours and just changed the ribbon treatment. I decided that I would have a go at doing emboss resist on other patterned papers to see how they would turn out. Below is a sample of them.

I think I like the 'music' one the best! I actually taught these cards today at my at home class and the girls made a variety of different ones, all looking great!

give your brayer a bangin'!

One of the presentations at the Stampin' Up! convention was by the talented Paula Dobson. She showed how to make an interesting look using the brayer by 'banging' in. See below the pictures of Paula's demo and the amazing card she showcased! So when I got home I just HAD to have a go. I use Strawberry Slush, Basic Black and of cause the Silver Glitter Card!! I stamped the "smile" in White Stazone onto acetate. My sample is NOTHING as amazing as Paula's great card - isn't hers AMAZEBALLS!!!! hee hee I just LOVE that word! hehe

CONGRATULATIONS!

this is another project made using new products. The DSP is from Modern Melody and the stamp of the trophy is from the Ronald McDonald House Charity stamp set - Tag It. This would of been a great card to give our daughter when she got the top school prize at the end of last year. 

Yesterday we popped in yesterday to the school so we just HAD to have a looksy at the board where they put everyone's names. 

So cool to see her name up there!

Happy Sweet 16!

today my youngest baby turned 16 - I am still in shock! lol Where does the years go???? 

So I decided to make a card for her with all her favourite loves/interest. It took over a dozen stamp sets - sorry not going to list them all! lol Some of the images are a bit hard to see but they include- Dr Who, Harry Potter, shoes, cakes, church, bible, books, music, guitar, trophies, movies & drama, boyfriend (heart), learner plates and car and of cause a crown of rock! I did have to make up the cross and the books/bible. All the others are make using stamps :)

I stamped the "happy birthday" onto acetate with stazon so it 'overlapped' the images. On the inside of the card I use this cool stamp.

really enjoyed putting it together and she loved it :)

Support for Ronald McDonald House Charities

Stampin' Up! have been a long time supporter of charities and one in particular they are very active with. Ronald McDonald House Charities run the very important houses that support families who children are patients at hospital. They help with doing practical fun crafting session but also with raising funds for the houses. This year Stampin' Up! have released a stamp set where $NZ3.50 from every stamp set sold goes to the charity. The Get Well Soon stamp is from the stamp set called - Tag It! on page 45 of the new catalgoue.

I created the bandaid by using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder but using the image upside down - creating little 'dots'. I coloured the stamp with Stampin' Markers and cut out the brackets to create some interest. The background was stamped with Groovy Grunge stamps set. :)

Soho Ticket Box

Last month I made this for my sister in-law's birthday. The frame is a 'box' style and I talked my husband into drilling a slot on the top so she can pop movie and concert stubs into it. Over time it creates a 'work of art' as the stubs pile up. 

I had seen the idea on Pinterest (so LOVE that site!) and I knew the new Soho Subway DSP was PERFECT for it. I made a matching card too - using the This and That date stamp to put the date of her birthday on the card.

Here is the top of the frame showing the slot for slipping the ticket stubs in.

Bright and Banner!!

One of the new colours that have come into the colour families is Crushed Curry. I do like a good yellow and this is a doozy!! I have used the new rotary cutter on the edge of the Crushed Curry mat -I used the small scallop blade. I do love the rotary cutter - really good for doing LOTS of cutting and with the option of adding decorative blade makes it two tools in one! The blades are SO easy to switch too, better than any other rotary cutter I have used. The banners are made from the new DSP Gingham Garden and the sentiment is from Hello Lovely stamp set. I matched the Crushed Curry with Island Indigo.
