Watercolouring Pencils

I was recently asked to demo Stampin' Up!'s watercolour pencils

These two photos show what you can do with one technique with them.

For this I drew directly onto the paper with the pencils and then using an aqua pen I 'drew' out the colour.

On the blue one I just went over the lines of colour but on the pink one is coloured the image with the aqua pen creating a more solid look of colour. It reminded me of days spent colouring in as a child, very therapeutic! hehe It was great to get these out and play with them. I have two more techniques which I will show you tomorrow using the pencils.

The stamp sets I used on these two cards is 'Happy Moments' which is one of the FREE Sale-a-bration sets which ends TODAY!!!! if you have an order over $120NZ you can pick one of four sets. But you MUST contact me today!!!!

paper doll card

this is a sneeky peeky at some of the new products that Stampin' Up! are releasing later next week on the 1st April (no April fools here!)

while I was making her it reminded me of the paper dolls we used to play with as children. I am thinking I might make some different clothes for her too. She comes the the tote bag, and some cool accessories to do with stamping! Everything on the card in new apart from the Old Olive card base and the Real Retro word stamp 'Hey there'

So we know cool stuff is coming but don't forget that you only have 7 days left to order anything from the Summer Mini catalogue and remember that the same applies for the FREE stamps in the Sale-a-bration catalogue. That's where for every $120 you spend on products in either the Summer Mini or main Idea Book & Catalogue you get to pick a free set!! Contact me TODAY to arrange an order.

a tin of Easter goodies!

this pail of chocolate is for a hostess gift for a workshop that I am doing on Sunday. I have used Chocolate Chip DSP and Sweet Always DSP. Lots of circles using my wonderful Stampin' Up! Circle Scissors, Whimsical Words Sale-a-bration stamp set (which is free with orders over $120 excluding postage) and lots of Chocolate Chip 1" Double Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon. The bow at the top is made the same way as the paper bows I have posted before. You use 8 strips of ribbon the same length for the bottom two layers and 4 strips of shorter ribbon for the top, finishing with a single loop. I even shredded some scraps of the Chocolate Chip card stock for the eggs to rest on.
Thanks for looking.

Easter Basket

This Easter basket is a version of the popular flower pot card. It stands on its own and when you pull up the eggs it reveals the message.

I shortened the length of the flower pot for the basket base and scored the front panel, and added a handle.

The yummy looking eggs are covered with Dazzling Diamonds to make them special! I used the Wagon Full of Fun stamp set which is in the current Summer Mini which expires at the end of the month. It is a very useful set for all sorts of occasions and great value for $60.95 for 10 stamps which includes some sentiment stamps. So if you love this set like me contact me today to order yours. Don't forget that any order (excluding postage) before 31 March 2010 over $120 earns you a FREE Sale-a-bration stamp set, so this is the time to buy.

I have another great Easter project to show you so come back for a visit tomorrow.

simple baby card

Aren't these just so cute! I made them for a swap with my sidelines at training yesterday. I was pushed for time so I wanted a quick card that would be very easy to demonstrate. The background is Bashful Blue and Pink Pirouette which I wheeled with the Spot On jumbo wheel just to add a watercolour effect. The nappy (which is what we in New Zealand call diapers) is cut out of Whisper White which I put through a embossing folder, this is sneak preview number one! The second sneak preview is the wee button I used, so you will have to wait till the 1st April before I tell you how to do them! hehe That's when our new Autumn/Winter mini catalogue is released.
I am having a launce party on the Sunday 18th April at 1.30pm. You will get to see lots of the amazing new goodies that Stampin' Up! are releasing! It will be create class - we will be making a springy card, which is a fancy fold. I have posted one a few posts ago called Spingy Love Card. But the one we will make at the launch will use new stamps, card stock and all sorts! Class is $15 which includes 2 (yes 2) projects, a yummy afternoon tea and a great goodie bag. There will be spot prizes too so lots of reasons to come. But numbers will be limited so please contact me asap to reserve your seat. julia.leece@slingshot.co.nz

Another wonderful purse

Do you get the idea that I love purses????
this purse is made using a paper bag. You can use any flat bottom bag - shopping bags, gift bags etc. A fellow SU demo used a coffee bag for hers giving it a lovely smell which added to the delight of the gift (it was fulled with chocolate!) here's a link to her blog which has the link to the site with the instructions on how to do it. They are very easy to make!
This is my door prize for an event in Tauranga today, its full of Hersey Kisses!
I used Baja Breeze card stock and 5/8" striped grosgrain ribbon and the Urban Oasis DSP. Pulled out the Build-a-brads again today.
Hope you all have a great weekend and find some time to be creative!

When I grew up.....

we were told 'blue and green should never be seen' together! well they got that one wrong - these two colours are made for each other! Not Quite Navy and Kiwi Kiss are yummy together! They are warm and rich and sophisticated and everything!!
I used the lovely paper from Urban Garden which I cut two of the flowers out of it and I rubbed the top smaller one with the stylus tool which makes the petals have a slight shape to them. The Build-a-Brad is great cause you can incorporate the same paper in side. I punched a 1/2 inch circle out of the backing DSP, just the lighter colour. The Kiwi Kiss ribbon adds a lushness to it and the paper piecing just finishes it off. The stamp is from the set Short and Sweet.
This card is for a customer of mine and I hope she likes it too!
As for yesturdays projet there is a landslide vote for the smaller bow so thats the way the card will stay! Thanks for everyones help with that!
Thanks again.

Easter is coming!!

Easter means alot of different things to different people but one thing that we all like is EASTER EGGS! Actually anything with chocolate is good with me! hehe
I love that this year we have the sweet treat cups so we can put chocolate on cards!

This little bunny is a punch art bunny (sorry Karen R) made using different sized round and oval punches. I used a bit of sponging around the edges of the bunny to help give it some depth.
There was a bit of debate as to whether she should have a big bow or a smaller bow. Actually that was after the pink or brown bow discussion, anyway which do you prefer?

another magic card

here's another magic card. This one I did for my lovely neighbour who's birthday was today. I have a infinity to cupcakes so I just had to include one!

I used the spotty jumbo wheel on this one in Elegant Eggplant, not a normal colour combo with Baja Breeze but we will try anything once! lol To create the frame I used my new circle scissors, they are just sooooo cool!!! You can cut anything from 1" to 6" in diameter, and they are fun and easy to use. At $65 they are very reasonable, contact me to find out more. I would love to have a workshop at your place to show you and your friends how easy it is to use and some of the benefit's of it. julia.leece@slingshot.co.nz

Cool Magic Card

Yesterday 8 girls from our Creative Inkers team had our Sale-a-bration Extravaganza where crafters come along and make 4 amazing projects.

Ann and I taught this magic card. It works by starting our a plain lined image. Then when you pull the tag the picture comes out coloured! We used the Friends 24/7 stamp set and the Forever Friends Jumbo roller. The card is Baja Breeze and the ink Choc Chip. The neat window in the card was made by punching the curvy label punch four times, a great effect! Lots of sponging helps to create the 'old worldy' look. The coloured image is on water colour paper which is great to use to blend colours together. We used Baja Breeze ink, a few drops on a plate and a aqua pen and you are away!
I love anytime I can get the crimper out and the little bit under the ribbon just finishes off the card perfectly!

Tomorrow I will show you a card I made that's very similar but a little bit different! hehe See you then.

Happy Bug Day

I am back home from my great trip to Melbourne, they even put on an amazing hail storm for me! While I was there it was Jack's 6th birthday, he is the son of my friend and fellow super shopper Caroline who I stayed with.

This is the card that I made for him before I left home.

Any excuse to get this fun set out has got to be good. I have teamed it up with the Kaleidoscope DSP which is only for sale till the end of March so you need to get in quick! You create the 'bite' marks out of the leaves using scalloped punches. I find the scallop oval the best. The leaves are just hand cut and I just used the matching Stampin' Up! marker to put the veins in.

thanks for looking.
