Pretty Pink Card

I wanted to make a card that was different to the cards I had been doing, I wanted a softer look. I started with Very Vanilla card stock and stamped the word stamp out of the Rustic Rooster level two hostess set in Sahara Sand and sponged the edges. Then I sponged a piece of VV with Rose Red and Regal Rose, tore the edges, damped some of the edges to make them curl and used a rub on from the Laughter & Love set. I used the same pinks to colour the flowers from the Pretty kit using both sponging and blender pens. The salutation is stamped in Choc Chip and a piece of the wide twill tape. Of cause a half pearl or two was needed! Mounted on a Choc Chip card it was all finished!

Valentines Day

this is my first entry in the Just Add Ink challenge. Just Add Ink is a new website set up by Australian and New Zealand Stampin' Up! demo's and have weekly challenges. It's great because most SU demo site challenges have colours and stamps we don't have in NZ.

this weeks challenge is to make a project with a heart. I was thinking of teenagers when I was doing this one. Its CAS - which means it's 'clean and simple' with not to much fussiness.

I used -Sweet Slumber Specialty DSP, Taking Care of Business stamp set & the new Whimsical Words stamp set. The Whimsical Words set is not available for purchase - you don't have to cause SU are giving them away!!! hehe Its part of the Sale-a-bration. The tag punches were really helpful for this project and the important heart is from I {HEART} Hearts set which is from the Summer Mini. A lot of the stamps fit in the two heart punches.

Tangerine Tango

Sometimes its great to do monochromatic cards - this one is just Tangerine Tango and Very Vanilla. Again I have used the new Spring Mini stamp set For Everything (its so versatile!!). I have used the Patterns DSP in Tangerine Tango, and the cool grommets also from the Spring Mini. The 5/8" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon has a white stripe on it so I toned it done to cream by colouring in the white with Blush Blossom SU Marker, and I amazed that is is now Very Vanilla colour to match the theme!!

Sometimes we need to think outside the box! Another thing I like to use when I can is the textured card stock the Stampin' Up! sell in 12x12 size, it gives it a lovely rich look to the project. It is sold in colour familys for $25.95 for 24 sheets which is just over a $1 a sheet!! AMAZING!

Contact me if you want to know about more Stampin' Up! products and amazing specials. At the moment we have the biggest sale of the year Sale-a-bration where Stampin' Up! are giving FREE stamp sets!!! You MUST contact me to find out how you can get free stampset with just a purchase of some yummy products of $120!! Its a win win! :-)

oh I have fallen in love with stair cards!

This one is a 2, 4, 6 stair card, meaning each step is 2, 4 and 6 cm high. The whole card is 12cmx24cm. Cut down the middle of the card from 2cm in to 6cm from the other end. Then score from the cut line to the side at 2cm, 4cm, 8cm, 12cm, 18cm. At 12cm score all the ways across the card. You can work out which are valley folds and which are mountain folds from the pic. The colour scheme is Kraft, Vanilla Confetti and Basic Black. Stamp sets are Rustic Rooster, Best Yet and Flight of the Butterfly. I think I got a bit carried away with the layering but hey who cares! lol

Thanks for looking.

12yo girls birthday card

this card I made for a friends daughter who just turned 12. When they get to that age they often want to be grown up so I wanted to a card that is both age appropriate and nice! lol

Again the glossy white paper came out. The flowers are from the For Everything set in the new Summer Mini. I love my border punches and this eyelet punch really sets the card off.

thanks for looking and for Karen for spell checking for me! love ya!

Owl in a tree

Sorry its another sponging card. I had this card in my head for a few days so it was great to get it down onto a card. The owl is from the set Animal Stories. The tree is just hand drawn with SU marker pens. I have used some of the checked black and white ribbon just to give it a bit of a lift. The little grommet on the bow is out of the current summer mimi catalogue. The picture is mounted on Whisper White, then Not Quiet Navy then Basic Black.

Cheers

Moving Circle Card

this is a cool card. the first picture is the starting point then you move the tag around till you get to the last picture which shows the greeting.

One of my fellow Stampin' Up! demos has an amazing sample on her website
http://www.createwithstamps.co.nz/
it also has the directions to how to make it.

Since doing this I have thought of a few ways to tweek it, but I must admit that this was my fourth attempt hehe.

I will be teaching this card at the first class of this year on 8th February. Seats will be limited so email at julia.leece@slingshot.co.nz by 5th Feb to reserve your set. Classes are $15.00 and take two hours.

Just bring your paper trimmer and favourite adhesive.

Classes are 12.30pm-2.30pm & 7.30-9.30pm.
I always have some yummy fresh baking on hand too!

This project is a great one to use on brand new Circle Sissors.
Check out the Summer Mini catalogue now - if you don't have one then let me know so I can send you one.

Thanks for looking.

Live With Passion

Another sponging card on glossy card stock. I used Basic Grey for the grass and stazon black for the flowers. White gel pen again for the suns highlights. The birds were added cause I got black smugdes on the card! lol All booboos can become highlights!!! The set is Inspired By Nature.

StAiR cArDs

These are fun cards to make, actually I will be doing these during February for my workshops (so if you want to make them book a workshop now!!) They are fairly easy to make and you can decorate them ANY way you like! The Baja Breeze card is made using Fifth Ave stamp set, the background paper is stamped using two stamps from this set. The words are from One of a Kind. Finished off with some Old Olive ribbon.
The second card is made with the cute Animal Stories and the matching Tall Stories DSP. I'm sure any kid would love to get this card. And I like how you can use ribbon without having a bow on it! And popping up elements from the paper with Diamentionals.
Thanks for looking.

Twin babies!

No not me!!! lol but a lovely lady in Wellington called Sara who just had twin boys. It was quite hard to work out the wording as all the SU baby words aren't suitable for twins! I could of made two different cards, one for each boy, but that sounded even harder! hehe
The two babies are from the 'All in the Family" set and the words are from various word stamps. The word 'enjoy' is actually from a birthday stamp put I only used part of the stamp. The words say "Congratulations......enjoy every moment". I have used my favourite Baja Breeze, Going Grey and Very Vanilla instead of the usual Whisper White. Very Vanilla has the same fine surface as the white and is a bit softer in colour so suitable for a card for babies.

Thanks for looking.

The mighty rooster

well not really but it's mighty fun to use. I heat embossed the bird in black and then the words in white on to the glossy white paper. The grass bits are from Organic Grace which is also a hostess set like the Rustic Rooster. The background was sponged first with Summer Sun, More Mustard, Pumkin Pie, Baja Breeze and Not Quiet Navy. The brads are So Saffron matching one of the mounting papers, along with Whisper White and Basic Black. I finished the paper off by roughing up the edges with the cutter kit and putting the words 'remember' which are rubons from the Love and Laughter set.

C is for Cat

I love this set, I don't actually have it but a lovely friend and fellow demo Ann Wills (see her blog below 'Super Stamper') lent it to me. This card I started with glossy paper and stamped the cat with black stazon. Then I used the large 1 3/4" circle punch to punch a circle in sticky paper and put it over the cat. I used sponges and sponged Bashful Blue around the circle then added some Boardering Blue. I then added the branch which is from the For Everything in the last mini, I had to stamp it three times to get the whole branch. I used a Stampin'-ma-gig to get it in the right place. Lastly the words, mounted it on black, added the ribbon and brads and all mounted on a Baja Breeze textured card base. I doesn't really show the depth of colour in this photo - one disadvantage of using glossy paper!

Thanks for looking.

another project done!!! yippee

I made this for a Circle Journal for a fellow crafter Lee - her theme was sea scapes. I hope she doesn't mind a semi self portrait! lol
I am enjoying the sponging and masking techneque and the Upsy Daisy stamp works well here too. The words are from Enjoy Every Moment and the seagulls are from a stamp set in the last spring SU mini.

yippee I made a card!!!

Made this card for my dad in law using sponging and masking. Stamps are Lovely as a Tree and pocket Silloettes. Thanks for looking.

Super Simple Shopping Bag Card

I didn't think I would have time but I managed to escape into my craft room to whip up a quick card. My friend and I both love shopping (well who doesn't! lol) and so I thought the Itty Bitty Birthday stamp set would be perfect. I used glossy card stock for both what I stamped on to plus the card base. I stamped with black Stazon then used my blender pens with Rose Red, Summer Sun and Taken with Teal. I added a bit of glitter and then got very carried away with mounting it all! hehe. Sometimes less is more with the layout of this card but I like how it turned out.

Thanks for looking - it will be a week or so before I can post again as we are off first thing tomorrow for out belated camping trip.

Happy New Year

we are just about to disappear to a northern lake for a week of camping. As we are having our house sat while we are away we have given the house a spring clean and as such have not done ANY crafting! In the evenings I have been blog hopping and I'm full of enthusiasm but it will have to wait till we get back.

In the mean time I wanted to wish you all a very happy, healthy and honjoyable (hehe that's enjoyable with an 'H' cause it had to match! LOL) new Year!!!
My aim is to have no ambulance rides!! and to craft more!!! but most importantly eating more chocolate!!!

take care!!!

cheers
Julia.
