Mover and Shapers

sounds like a new type of support underwear but in fact it's a cool new die for the awesome Big Shot!! This die is cool - it cuts out the the whole card plus you can add a window ANYWHERE on the front of the card. The die has a space where it is just metal and you add a little die which has a magnet on the back and then you put it thru the Big Shot just like normal. The window on these cards are similar to the Curly Label Punch but it has a 'stitching' effect around it too. There is an add on pack of four dies which have a circle, a dove, a ornament and another curly sided square shape (come back tomorrow to have a look at what I mean lol).
On the Kiwi Kiss (textured) card I used a bit of DSP, some yummy ribbon and the three brads. Now you might say 'Stampin' Up!' don't have white brads' but you can create your own. I stick the legs of a plain metal brad into a hunk of blue tack on the end of a pencil, then rub the head of the brad into a versamark ink pad then into white embossing powder, and then heat it with the heat tool. I did this twice to ensure an even coating. EASY PEASY!! You can do it with any of the embossing powders.
The Tangerine Tango card is textured card stock. Again I got out the white embossing powder and versamark stamp pad to do the Vintage Vogue flowers around the edge of the cards. I punched some Kiwi Kiss leaves from the XL Two Step Bird punch and the flowers with the scallop circle punch out of the TT DSP.
I have some more examples of the mover and shaper dies to post tomorrow so come back and have a look.
Happy Monday!! :-)

now meet me at the COPACABANA!!!

I can just imagine lazing down at a beach on a hot sunny day drinking cocktails! Esp. as in New Zealand we are in the middle of Winter! Temperature is about 10oC at time of writing this post.
I used Tempting Turquoise and Pacific Point textured card stock for the stripes, gives that nice canvas look. The Curly Label and the Cheers to You go so well together too.
Another name for these market cards is 'canopy cards' if you want to google it to find more great samples on the net.
BTW - I did google how to spell 'Copacabana' as I am a SHOCKER for my spelling! I tend to keep my greater Stampin' Up! team 'Creative Inkers' in hysterics over my lack of ability! Thank goodness my kids have inherited their spelling genes from my husbands side of the family!! hehe
I am off today to a close friends wedding, which I sewed the brides outfit and made the grooms tie (NEVER making a tie every again!!! lol) to match so I may sneak a photo on here later today. Meanwhile - a big CONGRATS to Claire and Alan!!

Meet me at the CAFE!!!

Here is another market card - this time a cafe!

I used Close to Cocoa which I am so going to miss when it retires in September! Also used Very Vanilla. The stamp set Sip by Sip is perfect for this too. The letters are from the Defining Alphabet and the wonderful background stamp Weathered is great for giving the wooden look. For the canopy I used textured card stock to give the canvas look. I used Basic Black and Chocolate Chip ink for the stamping.

It was a fun card to make, now I must go out for a coffee!!! - well skinny decafe mocha but close enough! LOL

Handbag's on SALE!!

who wouldn't love to find a shop with handbags on sale!!! I know I would!!
This is a version of a 'market' card, which we made yesterday at class. These are fabulous cards as you can theme them to any subject - flowers, ice creams, cakes, cupcakes, balloons, cafe, wine, books, the list goes on!
I have used Basic Black and Gold metallic cardstock, along with Very Vanilla and Real Red. The red handbag has clear embossing on it to create the 'leather' look, the middle bag is also embossed this time with black - using the big heart from the 'Always' stamp set. Those bags are shaped using punches, the black bag is created with the crimper and the scallop edged punch. A few brad and the bags are done. The word 'specials' is from the Taking Care of Business' set, I just hand wrote the 's' on the end. The sentiment is from the awesome 'Heard from the Heart' set in the Autumn-Winter mini catalogue.
I first saw these cards on a Stampin' Up! demo website by Karen Thomas who said she got the idea from Bev at http://stampinalldaywithbev.blogspot.com/2009/03/flower-shop-card.html and then on Lorri’s site http://stampingaddict.blogspot.com/2010/05/may-stamp-club-projects.html. So go and check them out!
Thanks for visiting my blog today - happy crafting!!

CHEERS!!!!

isn't this cool - this is the card I gave my husband Craig for his birthday earlier this month. I made the lid using the awesome Circle Scissors Plus which Stampin' Up! has released. There is a neat trick to get the 'rim' on the it. But you will need to book a class to learn that one!

But I used the silver metallic card stock from the Stampin' Up! catalogue which comes in a pack with gold and bronze and are so useful for all sorts of projects. I used the bronze on a previous post with the mover and shaper Big Shot die. And my class project today is using the gold one and you can see a hint of it inside the can! The stamp 'Cheers to You' is from the set with the same name - it has 3 other stamps with glasses - beer, champers and martini. I used the small tag punch with a bit of linen string.

This idea for a can lid was from a presentation that Shannon West (from Stampin' Up! Home Office) at the convention last month in Sydney.
If you haven't already placed an order for the super cheap stamps sets on this week's specials email me TODAY. I need all the orders by 5pm New Zealand time tomorrow (Tuesday 22nd).
