Simply Scored Flowers

Firstly sorry for my gap in posting - life just got in the way this week plus it's school holidays here in New Zealand. Not that my kids need 'entertaining' now but life does get slower and we sleep in etc etc etc. Plus tomorrow is my baby's birthday party so lots of prep for over a dozen 15 year olds attacking the place! hehe.
These card were samples I did for my Simply Scored class this week. I didn't realise I had some how left some More Mustard 'leaves' on top of the top left card - so you will have to pretend they're not there for a moment! hee hee
To get the colouring on the strips we stamped and sponged before we and folded them. The strips started as two 12" x 1" and we scored them at 1/2". I did do one in metric at 30.5cm x 2.5cm and scored at 1cm. This created a flower with more folds and not as 'thick'. But the choice is neither here or there.
Anyway, have a FAB weekend - :)

playing with reinkers!!!

the other day I thought I would have a play with some water colour paper and some reinkers. Reinkers are the little bottles of ink that you top up your stamp pad with every now and then when your ink pad gets a bit dry. In saying that I've only every topped up my black ink so far after over 3 years! But the little pottles of colour are GREAT for playing with in other ways.
These three cards are the result of one such play. The first one I put drops of ink on a dry card then spritz water onto it. The second one was where I sprayed water first then dropped drops of reinker and 'swished' the card around. And the third one I used a brush to apply some reinker and a small amount of water on the dry card. It's not normally my style but it was GREAT fun playing. My favourite is the top one, I black embossed the frame of the words and I partially crimped the edge for some texture.

punch art cake card

I made this card for a fellow demo's birthday last week. As I've had the flu I haven't been able to give it to her but I was running out of things to blog! lol So even though she still hasn't got it yet I am sure she won't mind me giving you all a peek.
This is an oversized card so it gave me some room for design. The cake is scored with the new diagonal plate on top of the Simply Scored scoring tool. This diagonal plate is NOW available for purchase - for $25.95.
The diagonal plate makes making envelopes easy as well as boxes and decorative designs.
It sits on top of the Simply Scored Base ($67.95) and like the Metric Plate ($26.50) does by rubber pads on the back. It has etched grooves ever 1/8" and score up to c
ard 12"x12". It comes with instructions for creating common envelope sizes.

As an introductory offer for the new Diagonal Plate I have a SPECIAL bundle. This bundle includes ALL THREE parts:
-Simply Scored Scoring Tool RRP $NZ67.95
-Simply Scored Metric Plate RRP $NZ26.50
-Simply Scored Diagonal Plate RRP $NZ25.95
PLUS a FREE packet of A4 card stock (exc. Very Vanilla & Whisper White) worth $NZ17.50
ALL this for the AMAZING price of $120!!!!! That's a saving of nearly $18!
You MUST contact me this month only. Other items can be added to your order.

wedding card

I was looking at my Stampin' Up! ribbon stash and realised I had a HEAP of Vanilla coloured ribbon and thought they would make a great wedding card. I started with Brushed gold card (I LOVE my metallic card stock!) and just cut strips of the different ribbons. The binding ribbon I did ruffle to give some texture. The stamp is a retired wedding one (I think lol) but I wanted one that I could cut out.
I always think it's lovely to have a nice matching inside of a card. Nothing looks worse that you wowing someone with the front of the card to open and find a blank inside! That's the great thing with Stampin' Up! is that you can carry on the 'artwork' inside with a piece or two of matching cardstock or a stamp or DSP!
This card to be converted to any occasion - imagine 'pinks' for a little girls birthday?? a GREAT way of using those little bit of ribbons you love and just can't throw away!
thanks for visiting my blog and have a great weekend! xx

my entry for Pintrest Tueday

Every Tuesday the girls on the Crafters Anonymous Facebook page do a challenge where you take something form your Pintrest Boards and actually make something inspired from it. This was the first time I entered, but it was fun to go back thru my boards and pick something. The picture below was my inspiration for the card above. I punched the 5 owls from Twitterpatted DSP, added eyes and then used the sentiment from Rue Des Fleurs which went SO well!!! I did have to use my marker pen and Stampin-ma-gig to get the sentiment in a line not two like it is on the stamp.

Hope you manage some crafting in your day today xx

a rose is a rose, or is it a camellia?

Last night on Crafter's Anonymous we had a special guest tutor, Deb Speijers. She taught us this awesome flower which is made from the Stampin' Up! ornament punch. I have made similar ones with the owl punch but this one is WAY easier! There was some debate as to whether it is a rose or a camellia - either way it's just lovely! It's good exercise making it too as it takes 32 ornaments - so that is punching 32 times, sponging 32 times and rolling 32 times - and don't forget gluing 32 times! lol But I really think it was worth it. I used Cherry Cobbler and sponged with White Craft ink.
If you would like to join in on the fun at Crafters Anonymous email me julia.leece@vodafone.co.nz
have a FANTASTIC day!

6 months till Christmas!!!!!!

This morning I announced to the kids that it was 6 months till Christmas. Surprisingly they weren't overly fazed by that - must mean they are REALLY teenagers now! lol But I get excited, I LOVE anything Christmas! So this is my post for you today - a hand made Christmas Tree!
I made this using two A4 sheets scored at 1/2" and then you cut that into strips. You need two strips (cut length ways) for each 'layer' and the first one is cut at 2", then reduce the size by 1/4" for each layer. The base is made from a strip scored at 3/4". I sponged the edges with gold shimmer paint just to give it a bit of bling. Using the new scoring tool - Simply Scored - which is FANTASTIC for doing projects like this!
