a classy Christmas card

Yesterday I had a fun day with a few friends crafting and I made 5 Christmas cards. This one is probably the EASIEST card of the day. I like how instead of square matting the layers I took all layers up to the very top. This not only adds some different but also strengthens the card as I used Very Vanilla as a card base which is not as strong as other colours - Whisper White is the same. Of cause I made the inside to match which again helps to keep the card standing.

cute little chocolate box class on Crafters Anonymous

On Monday night we made this cute box. It's designed off the Cadbury 'Favourites' box but half the size. I used the Sweet Shop Specialty DSP from the Winter Mini as it's extra thick so perfect for this type of project.

Used the framelits for the tag and window.
To finish the top I made a paper bow out of DSP from the same pack, like Miranda would say 'SUCH FUN'!!!

Today is my daughter Kelly's 15th birthday - my how quickly did those years go! She is into cake decorating so I had to something 'cakey' for her. I used the Doily DSP for the cupcake topper and for the case. I am not overly happy with this card - I had a mental block when it came to it. But it' a little bit cute and sparkly so you have gotta love that! lol

We took over a dozen kids ice skating yesterday and going back to the rink today for an ice hockey game, so I get to spend hours sitting at the rink again! - JOY! (not!)

gotta love a NINGA!!!!

Today my daughter shared her birthday party with her school friend Fred and he LOVES all things ninga's. SO I got out my "ninga bread man" cookie cutters and traced out one on to some DSP backing card. I then cut out the arm and wrapped him in 1cm (3/8") strips of Basic Black. Finished off with some eyes punched from the Owl Builder punch. Made the 'street sign' with Grunge Rock stamp set and set it all on some Well Worn DSP - that paper is so good for teen and masculine stuff! He loved the card which is good as it took over an hour to wrap the ninga up! hehe. Tomorrow I will show you the card I made my daughter.

Simply Scored Flowers

Firstly sorry for my gap in posting - life just got in the way this week plus it's school holidays here in New Zealand. Not that my kids need 'entertaining' now but life does get slower and we sleep in etc etc etc. Plus tomorrow is my baby's birthday party so lots of prep for over a dozen 15 year olds attacking the place! hehe.

These card were samples I did for my Simply Scored class this week. I didn't realise I had some how left some More Mustard 'leaves' on top of the top left card - so you will have to pretend they're not there for a moment! hee hee

To get the colouring on the strips we stamped and sponged before we and folded them. The strips started as two 12" x 1" and we scored them at 1/2". I did do one in metric at 30.5cm x 2.5cm and scored at 1cm. This created a flower with more folds and not as 'thick'. But the choice is neither here or there.

playing with reinkers!!!

the other day I thought I would have a play with some water colour paper and some reinkers. Reinkers are the little bottles of ink that you top up your stamp pad with every now and then when your ink pad gets a bit dry. In saying that I've only every topped up my black ink so far after over 3 years! But the little pottles of colour are GREAT for playing with in other ways.

These three cards are the result of one such play. The first one I put drops of ink on a dry card then spritz water onto it. The second one was where I sprayed water first then dropped drops of reinker and 'swished' the card around. And the third one I used a brush to apply some reinker and a small amount of water on the dry card. It's not normally my style but it was GREAT fun playing. My favourite is the top one, I black embossed the frame of the words and I partially crimped the edge for some texture.

I made this card for a fellow demo's birthday last week. As I've had the flu I haven't been able to give it to her but I was running out of things to blog! lol So even though she still hasn't got it yet I am sure she won't mind me giving you all a peek.
