wedding card

I was looking at my Stampin' Up! ribbon stash and realised I had a HEAP of Vanilla coloured ribbon and thought they would make a great wedding card. I started with Brushed gold card (I LOVE my metallic card stock!) and just cut strips of the different ribbons. The binding ribbon I did ruffle to give some texture. The stamp is a retired wedding one (I think lol) but I wanted one that I could cut out.
I always think it's lovely to have a nice matching inside of a card. Nothing looks worse that you wowing someone with the front of the card to open and find a blank inside! That's the great thing with Stampin' Up! is that you can carry on the 'artwork' inside with a piece or two of matching cardstock or a stamp or DSP!
This card to be converted to any occasion - imagine 'pinks' for a little girls birthday?? a GREAT way of using those little bit of ribbons you love and just can't throw away!
thanks for visiting my blog and have a great weekend! xx

my entry for Pintrest Tueday

Every Tuesday the girls on the Crafters Anonymous Facebook page do a challenge where you take something form your Pintrest Boards and actually make something inspired from it. This was the first time I entered, but it was fun to go back thru my boards and pick something. The picture below was my inspiration for the card above. I punched the 5 owls from Twitterpatted DSP, added eyes and then used the sentiment from Rue Des Fleurs which went SO well!!! I did have to use my marker pen and Stampin-ma-gig to get the sentiment in a line not two like it is on the stamp.

Hope you manage some crafting in your day today xx

a rose is a rose, or is it a camellia?

Last night on Crafter's Anonymous we had a special guest tutor, Deb Speijers. She taught us this awesome flower which is made from the Stampin' Up! ornament punch. I have made similar ones with the owl punch but this one is WAY easier! There was some debate as to whether it is a rose or a camellia - either way it's just lovely! It's good exercise making it too as it takes 32 ornaments - so that is punching 32 times, sponging 32 times and rolling 32 times - and don't forget gluing 32 times! lol But I really think it was worth it. I used Cherry Cobbler and sponged with White Craft ink.

6 months till Christmas!!!!!!

This morning I announced to the kids that it was 6 months till Christmas. Surprisingly they weren't overly fazed by that - must mean they are REALLY teenagers now! lol But I get excited, I LOVE anything Christmas! So this is my post for you today - a hand made Christmas Tree!
I made this using two A4 sheets scored at 1/2" and then you cut that into strips. You need two strips (cut length ways) for each 'layer' and the first one is cut at 2", then reduce the size by 1/4" for each layer. The base is made from a strip scored at 3/4". I sponged the edges with gold shimmer paint just to give it a bit of bling. Using the new scoring tool - Simply Scored - which is FANTASTIC for doing projects like this!
Order yours TODAY!!!!!!

are you a fan of fans??

this is another project using the Simply Score tool and this is what my scoring class will make. I have had to postpone the class to Wednesday 4th July. The original Fan that apparently was showcased at our Stampin' Up! convention in Canberra they used a hot glue gun but me and a hot glue gun don't mix very well, which you could see if you look really closely at this one! hehe
BUT yesterday I spent some time making it with a different adhesive and I'm pleased to see it worked - I won't show them on here till after class hee hee.
Anyway it's Saturday here in New Zealand and that means family time. Hope you have a pleasant weekend! xx

But the umbrella is very easy to make - ESPECIALLY with the Simply Scored scoring tool! $For only $67.95 which is a FANTASTIC price compared to other brands! We also have a metric plate which fits on top perfectly for only $26.50 and a diagonal plate for $25.95.

so to celebrate I am have a class on the 4th July at 12.30pm for $15 or only $5 if you have bought a scoring tool from me. Contact me on julia.leece@vodafone.co.nz for more info.

sorry more sewing! lol

The other day was my girlfriends birthday and I had secretly made this quilt for her. She LOVES coffee - she was a latte drinker but I brought her back to the cappuccino side! Funny now that she's drinking cappuccino's I've moved to mocha's! lol ANYWAY I digress.... This was the first time I had done quilting - the over sewing to give it some texture. I REALLY enjoyed it. It was good as the quilt is only a 'knee' quilt so I could do it on my machine easily.
My girlfriend really loved it so I'm so pleased - it was worth it! lol

ribbon panel card

Last night I took the online class at Crafters Anonymous and this is the card we made. The original card idea came from a friend of mine in Hamilton and she shared it with me when I stayed last month. It is a REALLY easy card really - just need a Zutter, a cropadile or a punch to make the holes. I LOVE the First Edition DSP and the 'antique' look it gives. It's great to stamp directly on to too.
Thanks for visiting again :)

Happy Birthday Caitie!

this card I made for a friends daughter who turns 6 today! she's like all other girls and loves all things pink and sparkly!! This is the very first time I have actually put ink on this stamp set - Take A Spin. I actually coloured the stamp with marker pens as I wanted different parts with different colours - I use Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo and Real Red. I had to add the glitter sheets and of cause some fabulous DSP!
Happy birthday Caitlin! xx

LOVE sewing pin cushions!

this hexagon pin cushion is all hand sewn and it's made from the Stampin' Up! fabric "Deck the Hall". I like having some hand work I can do late afternoon/evening with my feet up. I saw this idea at a quilt show recently and thought it was an easy project. I think I might make a few more and either sell them or give them away for 'hostess gifts'. Every time I do a Stampin' Up! workshop/party the hostess who holds it not only has a chance to get FREE product (on qualifying sales) they get a FREE Stampin' Up! Catalogue AND a 'hostess gift' like this. If you want to join in on the fun then contact me julia.leece@vodafone.co.nz
looking forward to hearing from YOU!

Pretty in Pink

a new product that Stampin' Up! are putting out shortly is the new DIAGONAL plate for the Simply Scored scoring tool. It's so neat - you can make neat as diagonal score lines (which I have done on the white of the card although it doesn't show that well in the photos) but you can make EASY matching envelopes and this cool box. I am sure over the next wee while we will see heaps of other things that can be done with it.
Hope where you are you are warm - winter has finally hit New Zealand and it's been VERY cold - some of the coldest days we've ever had! But we are still have beautiful fine days though! hee hee
HAPPY CRAFTING!

cool spinner card from Crafters Anonymous class

Monday night's online class at Crafters Anonymous was taken by Dee Sturgeon and she showed us how to make this card that has a cool spinner inside. I decided to make mine a Christmas one as I am trying to get my stock of Christmas cards up as I ran out last year!

I used Night Of Navy which is a lush dark blue and silver embossing powder along with the silvery white sparkly card. Even though Christmas in New Zealand is in the middle of summer we still think of all things sparkly when it comes to the festive season. I also used the colour stacks for the DSP which I find is AWESOME for monochromatic style projects. You could use DSP in the hole in the center but I decided to stamp in silver embossing powder and I'm pleased with how it came out.

Thanks for visiting my blog. :)

gotta love BIG BOWS!!!!

Yesterday I had a bit of a play with one of the new products that is going to be released soon. It's a diagonal plate for the wonderful Simply Scored scoring tool. It's very cool and one of the things it can do is help you make envelopes SO EASY!!! And doesn't a matching envelope help make a card so more personalised? This Stampin' Up! DSP is Beau Chateau and it's so pretty. Of cause I had to use my favourite Big Shot Framelits on the card with the DSP and that great bow! I also used our Vanilla Confetti card as my card base - it's made from recycled paper and has flecks of other colours through it which give it a nice soft look.
I made some other cool projects with this tool so stick around!

teen boy card number 2

Here is the second card in the teen series. I used the Frightful Sight DSP which is very 'halloweeny' but has some cool stripes and spots! Hopefully the twin boys who these two cards are for like them when they finally get them this week! Only 10 days after their birthday! hehe

I have had fun today playing a new toy so be sure and come back tomorrow for a sneak peek!!

teen boy card number 1

this was a REALLY easy card to put together thanks to the wonderful Stampin' Up! DSP Well Worn. That DSP pack is FULL of great images for masculine cards, which as we all know are ALWAYS the hardest cards to do! I cut the teenage boy image out with Stampin' Up! cardstock so it works soooooo well with the DSP. A bit of denim ribbon and some staples and the card was done.

soft and pretty

this is the last of these lacy cards (I promise! hehe) This is Wisteria Wonder - so a soft pale purple. It's amazing how the different colours of the same card look so differently! I like the monochromatic look when you have such a fancy boarder punch. To achieve this I have used the Paper Stacks that Stampin' Up! sell - for each colour family and incolour family you get at least 4 sheets of monochromatic paper (the incolour packs have 8 sheets) in two different styles which helps make PERFECT monochromatic cards.
Tomorrow I have some lovely cards I made for my god son and his twin brother - see you then, and thanks for visiting.

happy birthday hubby!

today is my darling (and very patient) husbands birthday - and a big "0" too! I was running out of time so didn't get to make a big fancy card for him but I managed to throw this together for him. He loves cars, boats and travelling (and would one day like to fly a plane!) so I thought the sentiment of "may all your wishes come true!" would be perfect! We do have 4 cars (his, mine, sons a & a classic mustang) and a boat so we are slowly getting there hee hee! but I totally refuse to get a plane!! there would be nowhere for it to go! LOL
Anyway Craig - hope you have a lovely birthday xxxx

never to early for espresso

This is another version of the card I posted yesterday but this time it's in Early Espresso and Very Vanilla. I just fell in love with this style of card I just kept on making them! They are sooooooooo easy! And because of the busy detail of the punched out sections you don't need much decoration to embellish it. A bit of plain DSP, a sentiment or two and a bow. Couldn't be easier!
Have a great day!

love a lacey card!!!

Firstly I apologize for my delay in posting - my camera died and my kids were never around when I needed their camera!!! SO I have a whole heap all ready for the next week or two! hehe

This card is SO easy to make it's not funny!! The hardest part is pressing the big punch! I cut the A4 in half long ways and score in half. Then using the Lace Boarder punch punch twice down one side - the key is to flip the card over and punch it from the inside. If you don't do it this way you will have different sides as one has a punch out at the top and one doesn't. If you look at the picture below you will see these differences at the top of the card. But as I said just flip the card over ensuring you punch from the fold in the card down you will be right. A lesson I learnt AFTER I made the below card! hehe
